Description

The JSIR 340-5 is a durable and cost-effective product variant for MEMS IR emitters. It was specially developed for high-volume applications such as building air conditioning and automation systems. Due to the low input power of only 300 mW, emitters of this series can be used in battery-operated measuring devices. Due to the position independence of the CMOSI chip, this emitter is also suitable for hand-held measuring devices. The spectral bandwidth of 2 to 15 µm allows the emitter to be used for NDIR analysis of numerous target gases.

With an active chip area of 1.0 x 1.0 mm² and a membrane temperature of up to 710 °C, the JSIR 340-5 emitter offers high thermal performance. This enables a high radiation intensity and therefore a better resolution of the measurement signal. The low thermal mass of the chip diaphragm enables a time constant of just 6 ms. Customers therefore benefit from fast response times and a high modulation depth. The frequency range of the IR emitter is customisable. It can therefore be used with thermopiles and pyroelectric detectors without any problems.

The chip architecture of the JSIR 340-5 guarantees long-term stable performance without spontaneous failures over the entire service life. The MEMS emitter chip consists of a multi-layer hotplate membrane with a high-temperature stable metal C-MOSI layer. This protects the chip from ageing and environmental influences.

To extend the service life of the IR emitters, we recommend reducing the input power or using reverse polarity operation wherever possible. Also ensure that the IR components are protected from air currents, high ambient humidity, dust and aggressive gases. It is advisable to encapsulate the emitter separately to counteract external influences.

The JSIR 340-5 is supplied in a compact TO46 housing. It requires little space and enables easy integration into a wide variety of measuring systems. The infrared emitter can be operated at temperatures from -20 °C to 185 °C. The pins of the emitter must not be bent. This can cause microcracks, which can lead to leaks and thus to a drift in the measurement signal.
