Description

NDIR sensor for fast-response CO₂ measurement enabling reliable atmosphere control in cell incubators.

CO₂ incubators must ensure stable, reproducible growth conditions for cell cultures while keeping the risk of contamination as low as possible. This is exactly what this infrared-based CO₂ sensor (NDIR) was designed for. It measures reliably under real atmospheric conditions inside the incubator and supports fast, precise CO₂ and temperature control for stable and consistent process regulation.

Steam sterilizable up to 100 °C

The sensor is designed for decontamination by steam sterilization up to 100 °C. The sensor head can remain installed inside the incubator during the sterilization process—no removal is required.

Flexible electrical interface

Electrical connection is provided via a 5-pin M9 connector. Depending on the system configuration, a digital interface (RX/TX, RS485 integration) as well as an analog current output are available.

Tool-free sensor replacement

For maintenance or replacement, the sensor can be exchanged quickly and without tools:

disconnect the power supply, remove the sensor from its mount, insert the new sensor, and reconnect the electrical interface.

Optimal installation inside the incubator

The sensor should be positioned to capture the actual atmosphere within the incubation chamber. Dead zones and direct airflow from nozzles or fans should be avoided whenever possible.

Stable operating conditions prior to calibration

Before commissioning and calibration, sufficient warm-up time and thermal equilibrium must be ensured. The sensor should only be used for control and calibration once stable incubator conditions have been reached.

Designed for everyday laboratory use, the sensor allows for easy cleaning and reliable contamination protection. Application-specific core components and electronic modules are manufactured in-house and are subject to strict quality controls—ensuring maximum service life and high supply reliability.
